    Sinepuxent Bay Wildlife Management Area

    The major draw for visitors to the Sinepuxent Bay WMA is bird watching. The islands in the bay can only be accessed by boat, and are used by a variety of sea birds as a breeding habitat. Visitors are asked to respect the signs designating off-limits areas, as the birds need to be free from stress in order to thrive.

    Wye Island Natural Resources Management Area

    The Wye Island NRMA is located roughly 15 miles south of Chestertown, MD. Six miles of trails provide guests with opportunities to view a vast array of wildlife. Hunting on the island is limited to permit hunting only, and horses and bicycles may be prohibited during certain times of the year.

    Wye Oak State Park

    Wye Oak State Park is named for a 460 year-old oak tree that was named as Maryland's State Tree in 1941. Mother Nature reclaimed the tree in 2002, knocking it down in a storm. Next to the oak is a small brick building that has been restored to resemble a colonial one-room school house.

    Taylor's Island

    Taylor's Island is an 1100 acre island made up primarily of tidal marsh. The marsh attracts a variety of waterfowl, as well as Asian sika deer, raccoons, muskrat and river otters. It is not uncommon to see ospreys and bald eagles fishing in the waters off the island.
